This is a FREE worldwide scheme. We are inviting responsible organisers of responsible projects to advertise here free of charge. Yes, registration is free, we make nothing from running this website. Our purpose is just to bring people together, after that its up to you. Volunteers do not need to register.  Just browse the host announcements and contact them direct.


What is a Responsible Volunteer? A responsible volunteer is a man or woman, over 18 years of age, who will knuckle down and work hard. Responsible volunteers do what they say they can do, and really put their backs into making a project a success. Responsible volunteers really do care about the projects they choose to volunteer for, they have a driving passion. People who just want a cheap holiday are NOT responsible volunteers and may not use this website. Responsible volunteers are responsible for their own travelling expenses and their own health and accident insurance. If you live in Europe you may also wish to look into a company called OvEuropa - www.oveuropa.com . OvEuropa is a registered non-profit association which provides it's members with a third party liability and personal accident, injury and illness insurance suited to volunteer work.


What is a Responsible Project? A responsible project is one which, as its main objective, is working for our planet, its people or its wildlife in a non-violent, non-polluting, non-racist and non-sexist way. Both non-profit and profit making organisations (such as organic farms) may apply as long as they are contributing something useful to the health and viability of our world.  If you qualify as a WWOOF host or an Idealist host then you will probably qualify as a Fair Deal Volunteer host and are welcome to place an announcement in our directory.  A responsible project values and respects its volunteers in the full knowledge that it could not exist without them. A responsible project never asks for financial contributions from its volunteers. A responsible project provides FREE, adequate, clean and comfortable accommodation and nourishing food for its volunteers throughout their stay. Organisers who are out to exploit their volunteers, or take them for granted, are NOT running a responsible project.
